Christmas in CDO

December is the month that we've all been waiting for because its Christmas, time to put those decorations, wrapping gifts, singing Christmas carols, be with our family and friends, a season for giving and sharing blessings to others and a time to celebrate the birth of Jesus. We must enjoy and feel the spirit of Christmas but how can one enjoy it if you were victimized by a sudden catastrophe which no one could ever expect it to happen and causes several lives and damages..

December 16,2011

Bagyong Sendong (typhoon Sendong) hits Northern Mindanao most especially Cagayan de Oro and Iligan City. See how this typhoon breaks the heart of many who supposed to be happy this Christmas and thought to be with there family sharing good memories together.

I just wanna share some pictures, slideshow of the tragedy:

How would one be happy that from the moment you open your eyes from sleep, all you hear is the shout of everybody asking for help that the water is already inside your house and a their sudden splash of water from the river and its already in your waist level.

3days to go, its Christmas but here in our place, (CDO) its hard to feel the spirit of it and you could hardly smile because all you can see in the streets are those homeless people, people who lost their love ones, begging for something e.g. food, money, asking for help, being traumatize for what had happen and seeing those children crying. Its painful yet its reality.

We can blame anybody for what had happen, the government, the people, those illegal loggers, miners, even the typhoon itself, but we can never blame the Almighty God for what had happen. For it has all reasons or purpose. As a result, we all learn the lessons from it.

Luckily, we are not being flooded because we are quiet far from those affected areas, we are not near the river. Thank God, we are still alive, life must go on but deep sympathy and condolence to those people who lost their love ones.

Meanwhile, it felt so heart whelming because hundreds of people shower blessings and helped us recover from tragedy. From the donations we received from different organizations, political/ government or non government, from different foundations, celebrities, Philippine military, and many others. These somehow relief the pain they felt and somehow feel the spirit of Christmas. Truly, the essence of Christmas is about giving.
How I wish this would not happen next.
